How Would I Go About Being A Human Resource Manager?

I am thinking that my career choice I had in mind might be wrong, I currently am a bookkeeper at my job and I also do a little bit of human rescource work and I love it. I am thinking about possible learning more about human resources. Any advice you may have about the field would be helpful, education, pros/cons, general idea of the job…..
Thanks

Would You Include Your Traveling Experiences In Your Resume?

I want to start working as a bilingual teacher in Texas and am wondering if my traveling experiences around the Americas are relevant to my resume. What do you think this statement would say to an HR or school director?

How Do You Know When It’s Time To Find A New Job?

I am so torn as to whether or not it is time. I really love my job.. Well I love what I do and my direct boss, but the office politics have really gotten to me.
I am an Execuitve Assistant for one of the founders of the company. I work for the HR Director in my spare time and sometimes help out the other founder as needed.
The HR Director is absolutely awful! She has crazy mood swings and does not think there is anything wrong with yelling at me in front of other employees. Her argument is that she is allowed to be in a bad mood. She is very belittling and watches my every move. The other founder thinks and treats me as if I am worthless.
In addition, when I discuss these feelings with my direct boss, he tells me that I am over-reacting and that I need to get a thicker skin. He just does not understand nor offer any solution.
I apoligize for ranting, however, I am just so torn. In addition, I work in the same office as my husband which is very convenient. HELP!

Can I Negotiate Salary After Receiving A Job Offer?

This is my first job out of college…
I was asked for a salary range before I went to my 2nd interview. I said $50k, which is a bit below my industry avg., but I mentioned it was negotiable. The offer came and the HR dept said they were not able to make my asking salary, but tried their best. The offer is $46k+$2K signing bonus, and I will be reviewed in 6 months for a raise.
The contract is in the mail, and while waiting, the VP has phoned me personally saying that he sincerely would like for me to consider joining the company, and showed great enthusiasm.
Now, should I take the offer? or do I still have room to negotiate a $1000 more? I will be in NYC where living costs are very high.

Should I Report Possible Discrimination?

I was recently at an interview where the HR director was making comments like “She knows she is hiring illegals, but there is nothing she can do.” and “The African Americans only last a day, but the illegal Mexicans will last as long as I will give them a job.”
As a caucasian, none of them were directed at me, but as a human I found it extremely innappropriate and made me extremely uncomfortable. I was then interviewed by the Sales Manager. Subsiquently I did not get the job.
My question being, since I was not discriminated against, should I say something to someone? And follow up question. . is it common practice for HR to conduct interviews like that to see your response? I would think not, but I never delt with a professional HR department.

Are The Human Resources Staff At Your Company Idiots?

I work as a Human Resources Manager but have to admit that I am sick and tired of many of the people who work in my field. I have worked with- and for- many Human Resources people in my career and have never met such a group of dummies in my life. So many of them are just bureaucrats who have no training in the technical side of Human Resources and are corporte rejects who washed out of other departments. Or they are young pretty girls who seem to lack common sense but have nice personalities.
