I’m applying for a county position. Just recently took a state exam to determine if I may pass on to the interview session. It takes six weeks to find results and it’s been 5 weeks already. I have friends who are lawyers who have made reference letters for me. Should I send them in now to the county HR director, wait until I get the interview, or just not send them at all? Thank you for your help!! =)

I am in a discussion group for one of classes, and we are developing a business plan, and I am the “human resource manager” for the group, so I am doing research on hiring solid employees and am looking for any pertinent information.

Disparity in income levels seems to be a strong theme in politics today. Many people think it’s unfair that some corporate CEOs get millions in salaries and bonuses. They want limits or caps on corporate salaries.
Do we really want a government that has the power to dictate business policy? Once the federal government takes one step into HR matters, do you really think they would stop at limiting income levels just at the top of the ladder?
The private control of wealth is the basis of our liberty and freedom in the USA. Salary levels are a mtter of concern for the private individuals. In corporate America, it is decided by the stockholders and the directors, not the government.
Creating annual income caps even on a few Americans creates an income cap on all Americans. Do you want a government that dictates just how wealthy you are allowed to become?

I left a medical device company months ago and have learned that over the months, on two occassions that I know of, this manager has said something regarding my sales ability that is very negative, and incorrect. In my line of work, ones ability to provide accurate, intelligent clinical information and guidance during surgeries where the product is used is of the utmost importance. Our ability to gain employment, be successful and earn the living this offers hinges soley on one’s “clinical” credibility
This incorrect information is spreading through the industry and market. After the first time I learned of the managers comment, I phoned, inquired and ask that it stop, which he denied ever saying anything. A few months later (days ago) the same comment was made.
My reputation and ability to get another job are both effected. What measures can I take? I was thinking of calling the HR Director of the company and notifying him/her of my concerns and possible legal action. What do I do?

I interviewed almost 2 weeks ago for a controller position. The current controller is in the reserves and going in full time. I had a phone interview with the president and met with both the owner and HR Director. They asked if I could hold off till this Friday when the Controller comes back from her trip oversees who will interview me more in depth as far as my accounting abilities. They said they knew they were running the risk of loosing me to another corporation and asked if I had anything else going on to call or e-mail them and they would see about speeding things up. Did I get the darn job or not? Should I stop looking? This is so nerve wrecking…..HELP!

I have been shadowing and interviewing for a recruiter position for almost a month now. The company originally was undecided if they wanted to go with me, or not. However, this morning I received a call from HR in relation to official making me an offer. After being unemployed for several months I am very excited about this opportunity. However, there is one dilemna that cleared my nostrils, and took my breath away. The HR director stated over the phone that I would need to fax over a background check release form. She went on-and-on about how thorough it is. My employment references, and job references are solid, but I can’t say the same for my educational references. My resume somewhat gives the impression that I in fact did finish school when I did not. A buddy of mine told me that as long as you did not put that on the application online they will not check it. How true is that when HR mentioned that they will be checking education. Also, for an intermediate recruiter is that re

So, for better or worse, my work issue is nearing resolution. Here is the story so far. A few months ago I informed by supervisor’s boss of some concerns I had regarding the lab. As a result, I was given greater power in some projects-one of my ideas resolved a deadlocked project. I then had a very interesting conversation with our facilities HR director whom said the company did not think my boss was offering enough guidance to move me up-she wanted comments. I did not want to comment at that point. Late last week, my supervisor gave as bad a review as he could (had some very visible successes during the last six months so hard for him to say much). I contested the review to the facility director. The director brought in the VP of the facility. The director said that my boss could not defend his review of me; however, refused to budge on the assessment. The director then asked me to talk directly to my supervisor which I did today.
