I know that the second interview is with the Director of HR. Does anyone have an idea from experience what the second interview will be like? What type of questions? Is it get to know me time, or more hypothetical and technical questions? Does it seem like I’m “in” because of who I am interviewing with and how soon they called?

Here is the story. I will try to be as complete as possible but a thousand words goes pretty quickly. About 6 months ago I reported what I perceived to be a problem with my sections’s productivity (or lack thereof) to my supervisor’s boss. That person agreed that productivity was lacking and asked for my opinion to help the situation. I was given significantly more involvement in operations. I then found out that my supervisor’s boss was transferring to accept a huge promotion and the then-VP was likely being forced to resign. Then, my performance review came around. Not surprisingly, my boss gave me a poor review. I contested talking to both my supervisor’s boss that was leaving in a week and the incoming VP. My boss could not adequately defend his position and so my boss was ordered to rewrite my review to mine and the VPs satisfaction. While this was going on, I found out that my wife was pregnant so wanted to discuss benefit election changes with the director of HR. TBC.

Hi ,
I have 4+ yrs of experience in recruitment & staffing in IT /Telecom /FMCG industries & frankly im tired of working in this HR function .I would love to explore the other facets fo HR but do not have the go ahead to shift within my exisiting company due to lack of experience . I fear i will be stuck in this area & wonder if i can achieve anything since the only step that seems gettable is that of a staffing manager — > staffing director …..& then what ??? Im basically an engineering graduate & then i did a 6 month diploma in a small time institute in HR .Do i need an MBA ? How do i shift into another area in HR ? Which ones are the most rewarding areas ? I abhor the general admin jobs because i feel its not rewarding & thankless by the eod… Training seems interesting & so does HR analytics… Kindly advise ………Im so desperate !!!

I was hired to be the salaried office manager of a small, busy construction office in Chicago, IL. I have also become the HR director, the receptionist and at the moment, the accountant. One of the guys in the office is dumping a lot of work on me which severely limits my capacity to tend to my original and additional duties. I don’t have time for breaks and barely have time for lunch. The boss said I have to help him. This guy yells at me, swears at me and constantly belittles me. He also yells at everyone else in the office, telling them what their job is and how to do it. I complained to the boss and the guy stopped swearing at me, but that’s all that’s stopped. I have been bringing work home nights and weekends, yet I get yelled at for not getting all the work done and have to deal with upset customers and coworkers because I don’t have time to do anything for them. I have 3 kids at home and I’m having a hard time finding another job that pays decent. What can I do?

“During your employment you will be able to participate in certain company benefitsupon completion of service requirements. These benefits include: medical insurance, 401k, paid time off, and an employee assistance program. Further information reguarding these benefits will be furnished for you at the start of your employment” She sent that out about a month after I started…she said 2-3 months before health kicks in…now she says 1 year…I am on Salary. I live in NYC and we do that Paychex HR thing. And I am VP of Sales. Is a year normal…or is it b/c they know my wife has cancer?

Here is what happened. I wanted to send my resume to a company I looked up. They didn’t have their HR email on their website so I called them to get an email to forward my resume. Fortunately at that time the HR lady went to lunch and the director or “co-founder” picked up the phone and I told him that I didn’t find the email etc, online and need an email I can forward my resume to. He decided to ask me what I do and my experience and courses so I told him everything and he told me that the spot that was open has been filled but he is looking to hire someone to assist his engineering department. He said I fit the description of what he is looking for. Then he asked me to forward my resume directly to him and said he will see. He seemed very impressed and interested. That was 1 week ago. Would it be okay to inquire about it? Should I email and ask him what he thinks? If not, when should I email him since its been a week? What should I write in the email? Its an engineering company
