As one of his reports, you are in an idael position to know your manager's strengths and weaknesses, so you can exploit that if you like to some extent.
I think a better approach will be to make sure you exhibit a mature business-like image. Has the guy who you are meeting god any hobbies, or favourite subjects ? mentioning things in these areas will help puit him at ease.
Other than that, I would just go with the flow, but don't get drunk or pinch his wife's bum - unless she tells you to.

I work closely with an HR department where I work. Since you answered my question...love the idea with the lipstick in the shower and writing a love note! Great idea! I'mma try that tonight. =) Hopefully he doesn't see it until the morning when he gets a shower.
Anyway you'll do fine! Just like any other interview you've had or dealt with. Expect the same questions. Though you'll be promoted and moving up, expect to be asked questions about that job. They might ask if you can handle the work load, how you might handle pressure? etc. If it's a lot of work that is.
Good luck to you! You'll do fine!
