There is a customer who shops where I work. On 1 occassion, he grabbed my shirt to look at the tattoo on my back, he has mimicked squeezing my breasts and grabbing my buttocks. Management “talked” to him, but didn’t ban him from shopping there. Now, he doesn’t say anything to me, just paces in front of my register, points me out to his friends, and on 2 occassions, I believe his vehicle has followed me through the parking lot. My bosses now say he isn’t doing anything wrong, but I think he’s violating KS harassment and stalking laws. After the regional HR director told me the customer would be banned, my local HR has told me they’ll get multiple statements from co-workers stating my behavior at work suggests “I asked for it.” My question…what legal recourse do I have, if any…and can I establish a hostile work environment?

I applied for a job recently with a hospital for a job I was plenty qualified for. They told me in the interview they were looking to make decisions fairly rapidly. The interview went very well in my opinion, as I seemed to please the interviewer in all my responses, had good eye contact, and was not nervous at all. After several days of no call, I called the HR director and left a message on her voicemail. This was several weeks back now. When an employer does not return a phone call, is it safe to assume they do not want to hire you? I think not returning a call is a bit……rude… to say the least….

I received my notice from unemployment for my hearing
my last employer is going to be via conference call
while my representation and I will be in the room with the judge.
they are fighting for “voluntary quit without good cause”
when I’m fighting that it was a discharge, as well as serious harassment by the HR Director.
on the letter it states
Note to employer- Produce: Testimoney RE: Continuing work available.
^^^anyone know what that means!?
Thank you!

Okay – I had a great second interview with the same company on Monday. For my first interview, I met with the HR Director, the Hiring Manager and the Creative Director. On Monday I met with the VP of Advertising and we seem to have ‘clicked’. I have already sent my ‘thank you’ letters to all of those mentioned. They will be making a decision on who gets the job next week or the week after. Would it be tacky to send an email to ’smooze’ the hiring manager to say ‘thank you for selecting me for a second interview and I look forward hearing from you … ‘
I an awesome job to ’sell’ myself and I want to put myself infront of the other candidate(s). What do you think?

I was offered a job back in Dec ‘08 when I was still in school for a position that is to start in Jul ‘09. I received a welcome note from the HR director in Apr ‘09 and assumed that everything is set to go. However, I was recently contacted by the 3rd party contractor performing background check for more info/notarized statements etc. I did not lie on my resume nor inflate my qualifications and so I am wondering what could have gone wrong here.

After finishing an 8 month contract HR assignment with several promises of a perm position (budget was cut), I am now job hunting again. I have been working contract and temp projects since Oct 2005 and feel as if I can’t get anyone to take me seriously. I was laid off from four companies (one int’l retail, 2 dot.coms, and a small bank at the mgr/director level) since 2000, so I do have ’short term” time frames on my resume. I would much rather not been laid off, but prospective employers don’t tend to look at it that way. I have great references and experience, but still can’t seem to get anyone to even look at my resume past the short term tenures. Any suggestions? I am terrified at the thought of hitting the job market again and getting no response.
Thank you for your help.

I was recently informed that a job was reserved for someone specific – before the vacancy was posted. It affects me in that I am one of the applicants for the job. Is it possible that there is something illegal taking place right before my eyes?
Part II of my question – who do I bring this up to – and when… my HR department, the EOE, or the Director doing the hiring (mine is an internal application). Do I bring this up now or after the recipient of the job is placed?

I know that the second interview is with the Director of HR. Does anyone have an idea from experience what the second interview will be like? What type of questions? Is it get to know me time, or more hypothetical and technical questions? Does it seem like I’m “in” because of who I am interviewing with and how soon they called?
