VP HR Archives

Been at my job for a year and they paid for it. I need more money though. However, I get 22 vacation days, 3 personal, 15 sick, and we’re closed for two weeks at the end of the year and it’s paid.
I want to take my career to a higher level but I am not sure that I should stay at my current job. They just got rid of the VP of HR and we’re being restructured. Should I stay on for a while or start looking?

I recently applied for a job within the same company I worked for last year. I tried to leave on good terms but I wasn’t getting the promotion I deserved because the Manager wouldn’t budge or help anyone grow, and eventually threatened to fire everyone which is why I left. The Manager recently quit, and now the position is open.
I have the minimal skills required, but everyone in our region liked and respected me, and I know all the ins & outs of the company and they would have to do minimal training. I have been connecting with as many former co workers as I can, including the VP and HR manager as well, because I badly want this job, and I have expressed this to them through emails. Is having the drive and passion enough?
Do I have a chance? Any words of wisdom?

I have been selected to attend process improvement classes with for the next year at my job. I was hand picked by the VP of HR which I am on a couple committees with. After the first night of class, there will be a dinner. At a restaurant. I am nervous about going. Beside being in these classes with managers, and directors, the CEO and corporate officials will be there. I truly feel like I am not ready for the dinner. I have enough to deal with going to class with the managers and directors, but to sit there socially with the group. A couple of people I asked that are in the classes stated that they were not going to be able to attend. I told a couople of people I have an appointment that evening but I may be able to rearrange the time. The dinner is right after a day long class. 8:a.m. to 4:30 p.m. I really feel like passing this up.

My Boss Is Trying To Get Me Fired!!! Help!!!?

I currently work in a department where there are only 2 people: me and my boss. We are so understaffed that the company is supposed to add 5 new positions. Regardless of this fact, my boss gives me work as if i am at least 4 of those missing positions and she does nothing (I also get some of her personal stuff to do as well). I have asked for help and she says i do not know how to time manage or prioritize even though her deadlines are insane. I recently asked for an extension on a financial analysis that she gave me one day to complete and she told me no. Now she is starting a papertrail to make me look incompetent. She has do this to 4 past employees in her department and she succeeded in getting them fired as well. I don’t know if i should go to HR because the VP of HR is one of her friends! What do i do???

Is This Discrimination?

I am my department’s top performer, guaranteed. I consistently work circles around my coworkers, provide support, and do everything else pretty much. They have rewarded others for their performance through a bi-monthly program, but some of these who were “rewarded” for their performance were also fired a few weeks later because of it.
Some coworkers of mine got a hold of my blog and tried to get me fired for it. My managers have taken me to HR where I was told that my work was solid, but my lifestyle was not. I was ordered to “keep it down”, although I really didn’t amp it up to begin with. Our VP of HR talked to me personally. She gave me a list of demands and I have followed every single one of them.
On the floor, I have been “gay bashed”, coworkers have thrown paperwork at me, slammed doors in my face, and so on. I have complained to my managers, but this behavior continues which leads me to believe that no one has been talked to. I have been called “weak” and told “I don’t know nothing” by these coworkers.
It’s not everyone, it’s a few people.
Is this discrimination? If so, what are my next steps as far as documentation? Am I out of line? I need a non-biased third party opinion here.

What Can I Do About Being “written Up”?

I was written up by my new manager of one month. Reason stated “I have displayed a bad attitude and negative body language at the meeting for restructering of the department”. I am uncomfortable with this person being a manager mainly because her deprtment states she is horrible and never there and she and I are both in a leadership class for work and now I have to report to her as my manager. I should have been directed as a Lead or Supervisor. Some coworkers say that she is threaten by me and my education (aa abd bba degress) and that I have 7 years in my company. But to go as far as writing me uo. I refused to sign the disciple action notice and thus it has been turned into HR. I called the vP of HR myself and set up a meeting for tomorrow. Now I am thinking what should I bring to the meeting. Emails from her? My letters of recommendations from the CEO? My two nominations for Employee of the Year? The fact that I am on 4 committees and this class? How should I prepare myself for this meeting? I know I wasn’t happy about the changes but I was not rude or disrespectful in any matter.

I interviewed for a Hiring Coordinator position at a bank a little over two weeks ago. After the interview, the VP of HR told me that she’d be getting back with candidates the week of Halloween, after she took a vacation.
She told me that myself and one other candidate were the only people likely to be interviewed. I have 2 years of HR experience where other candidate is a branch manager with no direct HR experience. Two people that work for the bank also recommended me to the president.
I’m giving these details to show that I don’t think she’d just not call me back or send a letter with regard to a second interview. She did note that the individual currently in the position is leaving because her husband got a job in another state. She won’t be quitting until the end of the year, so she said they’re not in a big hurry to fill the position.
Now only a few days after she said she’d call, is it too early to call to see where I stand? If not, what should I say?

Good afternoon all. I had an interview yesterday for a Hiring Coordinator position at a bank. The position’s base responsibility is the recruiting and hiring of hourly employees for 15 branch locations. Positions such as tellers, loan officers, etc. But, I would also assist in other facets of HR, such as job description writing, researching employment law issues, and updating the company personnel policy.
Here’s the question. I have been invited back for a second interview in a couple of weeks. The VP of HR whom I interviewed with said this interview would be more of a “grill session” wherein she’d ask me scenario questions. What I’d do in certain situations.
I have experience working as an HR consultant for city and county govenment, but have never worked for a bank. Anyone in the industry, or familiar with the industry, have an idea on type of scenario questions I should expect and how I should respond to those questions?
Thank you for any advice.

I actually received a 5.5% pay cut. I’ve been hashing this out with HR for a year and half and all they keep telling me is that the VP would never have approved the 7% raise. Was this not an implied contract? Do I have any legal action I can take? I’m in management and a salaried employee, do the rules not apply to us?
