I interviewed for this job over the past three weeks. I met with the department director, division director, and VP. They called my references and gave my stuff to HR. HR called and said that the co. wanted to make an offer… but first they needed my salary history. I provided it. Then the next day the HR girl called as asked if I had ever completed an application and said he needed to check my ref. I told her that my responders had indicated someone from the co. had contacted them for reference and she informed me that only SHE could check ref. and no one else (well!) She emailed the app. and I returned it. So far, none of my responders have heard from her and I am not sure if it is because she is waging a power war or what. How do I follow up on this and get the offer? I need to get on with it! Thanks.

Call and see if they need additional information. If you don’t get anywhere, try to speak to someone else in HR. Or maybe, you could contact one of the people you interviewed with to see if you are still being considered…?
