As the Human Resource leader, your responsibilities range from directing the daily operations of the Human Resources Department, administrate HR policies, budgeting and supervise HR staff. If his gross income for 2009 was less than $3,650 and you provided more than half of his support for the entire year than you CAN claim him as a dependent under the QR rule. Note that under that rule you get the exemption and maybe Head of Household filing status (because he’s your son) but you don’t get the Child Tax Credit (that dies at age 17) or the Earned Income Credit (as he’s not your QC) or any other tax benefits.
