What if ur applying for a job and the HR director wants to speak to your previous employer but he doesnt answer the phone calls? Would that ruin your chances of getting the job? Someone help plz

    Generally you list your boss’ name and phone number…but you can add the line to the HR department as well to ensure that the call gets answered. Also, many companies will not let their sups/mgrs answer questions regarding employees and they have their HR dept field the calls for legal sake.

    Many times an employer can only answer that you were employed by their company. Due to legalities, many aren’t going to say anything more or less. It depends on how savvy your former employer is. As suggested above, list and tell the HR person about the circumstances with your previous boss and the phone.
