Right now i’m just going for an associate degree and during my Human Resources class my instructor was saying how an associate degree is the same now as a high school diploma was back in the 60′s and 70′s. Now i’m all discourages because i want to be educated to the highest power and im very excited and interested in Paralegal studies. But i don’t want years from now my associates degree is become a problem if i’m ever out looking for a job.

I don’t know offhand whether most law firms require their paralegals to have a bachelors degree rather than an associates degree. That’s something you should investigate.
Generally speaking, there are two types of paralegals: (1) those hired right out of college who work for a few years, often before going to law school; and (2) those who work long-term. I believe there is some kind of advanced professional certification, but it’s usually not necessary, even if you plan to work as a paralegal long-term.

Like I used to tell my students when I was TA’ing — aim higher! Nothing’s wrong with wanting to be a paralegal, but you seem to have the motivation and confidence to go further than that. Aim to work your way into a BA program, i.e. B.A. in Justice, Law, & Society, or whatever, it doesn’t have to be that, and then aim for law school. It’ll be a lot of work, a lot of money, and a lot of stress. But I did my BA and MA while raising a family and living off of one income. If you want it bad enough, you can do it. Good luck!

Continue studying. Get your bachelors degree and then continue studying to earn your masters.
