No Return Phone Call=denied The Job?

I applied for a job recently with a hospital for a job I was plenty qualified for. They told me in the interview they were looking to make decisions fairly rapidly. The interview went very well in my opinion, as I seemed to please the interviewer in all my responses, had good eye contact, and was not nervous at all. After several days of no call, I called the HR director and left a message on her voicemail. This was several weeks back now. When an employer does not return a phone call, is it safe to assume they do not want to hire you? I think not returning a call is a bit……rude… to say the least….

  • I agree call back for as a follow up call – my husband applied for a job and everything seemed to have gone really well also for him – it was about 3 weeks before they called to offer him the job – talk about agonizing – you never know if you really felt good about it – there is no harm in trying to get a confirmation of yes or no – you could also if they say no- ask why and tell them so you may address the issue for future reference

It is very rude, and it almost certainly means you didn’t get the job if that much time has passed. I still recommend you call them again, being as sweet as possible and inquire. At the very least, they’ll feel like douches for not being straightforward with you.
