Should I Call An Employer 2 Weeks After A Job Interview?
I had a job interview in April that went quite well, and I was called back for a 2nd interview with two of the managers. That 2nd interview wasn’t perfect, but went all right. That was 2 weeks ago, and at the time they said they’d finished interviewing all candidates and they’d probably decide within a few days. I didn’t hear anything after 1 week, so I called the HR director, and she apologized that things were moving slowly, but said no decision had been made yet. She also said the position had NOT been filled and she had NOT been asked to seek out any more candidates, which I took as a good sign. I thanked her and said I’d wait to hear back. I then sent a polite letter to the 2 managers to let them know I was still very interested in the position.
That was one week ago, and I still haven’t heard anything. Should I wait, or check in again?
P.S. They told me that only a small handful of people would make it to the 2nd interview, that’s why I figured they could decide quickly.

I would check in again. Just let them know your touching base to see how the process is going if there is anymore info that they might need.
I know what you are going through – I would advice you to chill, re-group and keep looking. Just in case. You know they say “do not invest into a relationship more than what you can afford to loose”. I would not put all my hopes for just one job. I know that you are interested, but no matter how much you want it to happen it is out of your control now. Also, it’s no good to be too pushy, so I’d say pull yourself together and keep looking. You will find a job, sure, sooner or later!
I think this is a classic, ‘Don’t call us, we’ll call you”. They already know you’re very interested in the position. It’s possible that you we’re not chosen, OR something could have happened that is preventing them from making the desicion as quickly as they had hoped. I wouldn’t push it any further. But the letter was a good idea. Just sit back, and wait to hear from them. Stay positive!
