i’ve been waiting 2 weeks to hear back from a job that i went on an interview for. i had been corresponding with 3 people (Corporate HR, HR Assistant and the VP). I sent the HR Assistant (who had initially called me and who i met with first) a thank you email after the interview and a follow up email today, just inquiring if they had made any decisions. someone from the company called me back this afternoon, but i missed the call. they did not leave a message. should i call them back or wait to see if they will call again. i don’t want to be too pushy or annoying because i’d really like the job. if i call back, i wouldn’t know who exactly to call because i don’t know who called me (the number that showed up was the main line). what to do?

I don’t read other people’s posts until after I post so if my answer is very like someone else’s that is why I went ahead and posted.
Yes, call them. If someone hadn’t called you I would say you should still call them after this long. What if the was the one and only job you were sitting around waiting for? (I hope you are not.) Then you would never know what is going on, if they hired someone or not. Possibly there is a missed connection somewhere and they really did want you and because you didn’t want to seem pushy you missed the job.
It’s OK, most employers understand that several people are anxious to have the same job. Very few do you run into who get upset because you call too often.
I’d say call back. Tell the receptionist that you are returning a call re a job opening and she may be able to put you thru to the right person. It is just common courtesy to return the call. You have nothing to lose.
yes, call them and ask for the person you coresponded with in HR. Simply say you are returning a missed call your got from the office and ask if they have made a decision on the “blank” job.
They will either say yes or no and it will not affect their decision negatively in anyway. In fact it can only help by showing you are still interested.
Not complex at all, they called you, you missed the call, return the call as a courtesy; any other way would be mind games and games don’t work well in any job.
Call now.
If you’ve already waited 2 weeks it’s OK to call, speak to the person who first interviewed you. If you like you can call after normal business hours and simply leave a voice message, this way you’re not bothering anyone.
You should call them back immediately, if you don’t you will seem uninterested. You need to ring them up and explain to them that you missed their call and are very keen to find out the news. If you ignore it and wait for them to try calling again they might not and you will miss out. Employers taking on new staff are impressed when job seekers look keen. Good luck!
Call them. By doing so it shows that you are interested in the job and still want it. I’d call tomorrow morning if I were you.
If you live on the west coast then call them now. It is early afternoon there now.
Good luck!
Call back and ask for HR. Be honest. Hi. Someone called from (company name) but did not leave a message.
just keep on waiting but if they don’t ring you back in a week or 2, or even if your more patient in a month, ring them back.
Wow two weeks is a long time to hear back about a job. I think if you got the job they would have called you sooner then this. I still think maybe you should call just to see if for some reason they did call and you missed them.
Good luck…
Just call back saying “Hello, my name is … I missed a call earlier from the company” then wait to see what they say =]
Based on what I think you said, they’ve tried to each you. If so, call them.
If you want to call them, do so. It’s proper at this point, you seem to be well into the hiring process.
Just wait for them to call again. It seems like they would like to speak to you in person rather than leave a message. You don’t want to be too pushy. But, if they don’t call again in 48 hours, you might want to try calling and talking to that same HR Assistant.
Yes call back and inquire. you will not seem pushy, just ambitious and that’s a god attribute in business.
why the heck not?
If you don’t know exactly who to call, I’d wait. And make sure you are near your phone when they call again!
Call them. When they answer say that you recieved a call from the company and that you have applied for a job. They will probably send you to human resources. good luck.
YES CALL THEM….
I am sure they rather have someone that is very motivated for the job, like you!!
call back right away. If you recognize the number and its them I would call ASAP. They may not of left a message but that doesn’t mean there not going to hire you. they could of had a breakup in service before they left a message. It couldn’t hurt to call, Hope You Get The Job!
I would definatly call back as soon as possible. The employer will not think you are pushy. Most employers want someone who is aggresive and passionate about their career. When you call say you recieved a miss call today and were not sure who called but you had a interview recently and they should know who to direct you to.
I think you should call them back and talk to the HR. I don’t think they look at it as being too pushy, it’s more like you are interested. Good Luck!
Yes call them back. Ask to speak to the person who interviewed you and say you were returning a call you received from someone in the company (i guess this would be the HR assistant) and you are not sure exactly who called and if she knew any information in regards to the job and the phone call. DON’T just wait for them to call back. Even if you call just to ask on the status of the job. CALL. Go for what you want and let them know you are interested.
I’d say hang out for a couple of days and if they don’t call back by the end of the week… then call them Monday. Good Luck!!
Emails are so impersonal. A phone call would let them know that you are interested in the job and also let you know whether to keep looking or not. There is an old saying that goes “the squeaky wheel gets the grease.” If you don’t call someone else will and they may be the ones to get the position. Call the number that you have and Just ask if a decision has been made.
You call them, just call the company and ask for the person who interviewed you. It will show determination and you might get the job.
call them
Stop putzing around on Yahoo Q&A and call these people. Unless you are calling them twice a day, it is unlikely that they will think of you as pushy, they will more likely look at you as ambitious and thorough.
You need to call. So they can see that you follow up on all your work.
Call back NOW
Call them now. And next time send a real thank you card, not an email.
I would wait two more days then if no one called you back then I will give them a call. If the call that you missed was important they would have left a message.
I missed a call from the hiring manager for a job i had two interviews for. I called back and left messages twice but have not heard back from them. Should i call again? Thanks for your inputs
