I want to work in human resources. I have a degree in economics and I’m not sure how to proceed. I’ve been applying for jobs in the clerical field, accounting, and one position as a human resources clerk. Is it hard to get work in HR? Over five years ago, I worked for a large company that required full background checks. The HR mgr gave me a copy of my background report. She advised me to investigate if I was a victim of ID theft because the credit history part of my report listed someone’s name who had used my SS#. This individual lived in a state I’d never lived in before. I was offered a job back in Dec ’08 when I was still in school for a position that is to start in Jul ’09. I received a welcome note from the HR director in Apr ’09 and assumed that everything is set to go. However, I was recently contacted by the 3rd party contractor performing background check for more info/notarized statements etc. I did not lie on my resume nor inflate my qualifications and so I am wondering what could have gone wrong here. Do companies do background checks after the 1st interview or the 2nd interview? I had interviewed with 3-4 different people about three weeks ago at a company and I felt like the interview went great. I have been going back and forth with the HR director and she has told me that they are really close in making a decision. It has been three weeks since the day I interviewed and the only response I am getting is we are close in making a decision. How long do background checks take anyways?? I have never waited this long for a job. What should I do? What Is The Best Experience And Academic Background For A Position As A Director Of Human Resources?I am an attorney working in labor and employment (defense litigation for corporations) and am considering an MBA to focus on human resources management. |
