i am intersted in doing MBA/HR in forest management,so who could give me the correct details or were could i get the information tat which colleges offer the course and all details of the course.
I am not sure if human resources is the right field to go into and whether doing a masters in HR will be worth it… I’m just worried that there might be no jobs next year or so if the recession lingers.
Ok there are two things going on:
1) I was promised health insurance benefit. I even believe it’s on my job offer in writing. After my 90 days probation period, I tried to apply but my eployer had no information on it. So I had to wait for the HR Dept. to find out about the plans and prices of the offered plans. As soon as they came to me with the options, I signed up but they told me I missed the deadline (which even the HR director didn’t know existed until the morning she told me that). Now my employer is telling me I will have to wait until May, 2007.
2) My employer is behind 5 or six pay stubs for paychecks to all employees (8 of us, it’s a small company). We know they don’t have pay stubs for us because they are behind on their taxes so they can’t provide a pay stub. I know that if my employer is not paying taxes, they are putting in jeopardy the workman’s comp they are supposed to have. So theoretically, if I get F’d up and need disability, they won’t be able to provide.
My boss informed me several weeks ago that I was up for a promotion. She was getting my information together to submit to our VP & HR. Not long after she informed me of this, our proformace evaluations were due. So she called me in & said I was doing great & was very certain my promotion would come through. She also mentioned that she wasn’t sure how much of a raise I would get but hopefully I would be satisfied. I began to ask her if she knew any specifics about the raise & she said no that would be up to our VP to determine. I then inquired about possibly sheduling a meeting with our VP to inquire about a raise (I have an amount I’m looking for like most people). My boss cut me short & strongly adviced that I do nothing of the sort. She told me, I shouldn’t even know about this promotion, & it’s “unwritten policy” that employees ‘do not ask for raises.’ If I did I would most certianly loose my promotion & our VP wouldn’t be happy that I knew of all this. IS THIS EVEN LEGAL? Strange..
Human Resource Management: Theory and Practice:
The role of HRM and relative importance of many of the activities associated with HRM have changed as organisations endeavour to successfully compete in competitive and dynamic markets. Recruitment and Selection activities are seen as a priority as organisations seek to attract and retain people of the right calibre. Using this concept write a report to the managing director of an organisation with which you are familiar critiquing recruitment and selection activities. You are required to make recommendations and refer to the part people play in achieving and sustaining a competitive advantage.
Using an organisation with which you are familiar critically review ‘Recruitment and Selection in [chosen organisation]: Relevance and appropriateness’
In doing so, your report should focus on the following:
1. Describe how the HRM function can add value to the organisation by aligning HR processes to the overall business strategy ( particular reference to Recruitment and Selection processes)
2. Describe and critically evaluate recruitment and selection processes.
3. Assess relevance within your chosen organisation.
4. Explain how recruitment and selection is linked with other elements of HRM, i.e. induction, training, pay and psychological contract.
I know that I should file a formal complaint but I am unsure who to do so to. It was the HR director and the president of the company who did the sexual harassment……..
Everyone has a supervisor. Take it to his or her supervisor and explain the situation. If you do not like the response you get from them then keep taking it higher and higher. Good luck. That situation must suck !
