I had a job interview in April that went quite well, and I was called back for a 2nd interview with two of the managers. That 2nd interview wasn’t perfect, but went all right. That was 2 weeks ago, and at the time they said they’d finished interviewing all candidates and they’d probably decide within a few days. I didn’t hear anything after 1 week, so I called the HR director, and she apologized that things were moving slowly, but said no decision had been made yet. She also said the position had NOT been filled and she had NOT been asked to seek out any more candidates, which I took as a good sign. I thanked her and said I’d wait to hear back. I then sent a polite letter to the 2 managers to let them know I was still very interested in the position.
That was one week ago, and I still haven’t heard anything. Should I wait, or check in again?
P.S. They told me that only a small handful of people would make it to the 2nd interview, that’s why I figured they could decide quickly.
if I’ve never called out of work and there has not been any Performance Discussion/Counseling or Written warnings for absenteeism. All other time that I have been out it was approved time. Understanding that I can be written up for the absenteeism at this particular time is because we are going through a huge management change and there is only myself and the Director in HR. The DHR was suppose to hire a temp to assist in projects and changeover and has not. The department is also short another Manager. I am an exemplary employee. At work every single day-)other than approved time off)with a smile and complete assigned projects to the utmost satisfaction with a smile, working 55 hours a week on average. Is it legal for the DHR to terminate my employment and I have a court summons to be at court causing my first unapproved time off?
I work in a small office for a small business in Florida. Workers complained about an Asian woman microwaving fish because of the odor. It’s her favorite food and she comes from a different culture- she doesn’t see it as offensive. She never signed or read an HR Manual. I did, and there’s no food odor policy. The complainers told the VP, who told her to stop cooking and eating fish. She obeyed. What does the law say about this, especially if she refused and got fired?

I applied for a job with a school district and went through their HR office. The position will report to a director of a certain department. I have the name and e-mail of the director who will hire for this position. Would it be taboo for me to contact the director through e-mail to express my interest and put me on the radar? Or should I only correspond with the HR department?
About six months ago, I left my old company due to the fact that I thought I was unhappy. However, I now see that I was never happier than I was at this company.
One of the customer service reps from my old company called and asked me how I was doing and I told her that I was very unhappy. She told me to come back to the company; I figured that it would never happen so I never made any contact with my old boss or the company.
After 2-weeks, my old boss called me and said he heard I was unhappy and wanted to come back; now, he is coming down to talk to me with the Director of Human Resources.
What can I say or how can I prove to them that I am serious about coming back and will not look at leaving again a year from now.
I want to retire with this company and now know that I made a very bad decision in leaving.
Please help me or provide me some suggestions.

I interviewed for a position a few weeks ago. I have been in touch with my potential supervisor. She had told me I should be hearing from the Human Resources department at the end of last week. When the Director of Human Resources called me last Friday she said she could not make me an offer at that time because she had to wait for the President of the company (who was out of the office for the holiday weekend) to sign off on some paperwork authorizing the hire. She reassured me that I was a selected candidate for the position, but due to the President being out for the long weekend should could not make an official offer. We ended the conversation and she told me I would here back on Tuesday with the offer. I have not heard from them yet – should I call them? Or should I just give them some time? I didn’t want to call on Tuesday, understanding everyone is just getting back from the long weekend and I don’t want to sound annoying. Should I give them more time (I mean they basically told me I have the position, it just a matter of some paper work) or should I just call to check in?
