I am in a discussion group for one of classes, and we are developing a business plan, and I am the “human resource manager” for the group, so I am doing research on hiring solid employees and am looking for any pertinent information. Good afternoon all. I had an interview yesterday for a Hiring Coordinator position at a bank. The position’s base responsibility is the recruiting and hiring of hourly employees for 15 branch locations. Positions such as tellers, loan officers, etc. But, I would also assist in other facets of HR, such as job description writing, researching employment law issues, and updating the company personnel policy. Elimination of Human Resources Dept. should be first consideration. They are useless. The rest follows. I had interviewed with 3-4 different people about three weeks ago at their corporate headquarters in Los Angeles and I felt like the interview went great. I have been going back and forth with the HR director and she has told me that they are really close in making a decision. It has been three weeks since the day I interviewed and the only response I am getting is we are close in making a decision. How long do background checks take anyways?? I have never waited this long for a job. What should I do? I made the mistake of not asking when a decision was going to be made during an interview. Can I write a letter to find out if it has been made? What do I say? (I interviewed with the Head of HR & went back to meet with VP I would work with) who do I ask? I currently work as a HR Consultant for a firm that works with city and county govenments. We help them recruit/hire (a little), create job ads, write job descriptions, develop personnel policies, set compensation, etc. I’ve been working there for a year and a half.
