Classes? Courses? Seminars? Books? I left a medical device company months ago and have learned that over the months, on two occassions that I know of, this manager has said something regarding my sales ability that is very negative, and incorrect. In my line of work, ones ability to provide accurate, intelligent clinical information and guidance during surgeries where the product is used is of the utmost importance. Our ability to gain employment, be successful and earn the living this offers hinges soley on one’s “clinical” credibility There is a customer who shops where I work. On 1 occassion, he grabbed my shirt to look at the tattoo on my back, he has mimicked squeezing my breasts and grabbing my buttocks. Management “talked” to him, but didn’t ban him from shopping there. Now, he doesn’t say anything to me, just paces in front of my register, points me out to his friends, and on 2 occassions, I believe his vehicle has followed me through the parking lot. My bosses now say he isn’t doing anything wrong, but I think he’s violating KS harassment and stalking laws. After the regional HR director told me the customer would be banned, my local HR has told me they’ll get multiple statements from co-workers stating my behavior at work suggests “I asked for it.” My question…what legal recourse do I have, if any…and can I establish a hostile work environment? I was fired from my job while in the middle of a human resourses investigation dealing with a harrasment/retailiation claim I made. My boss listed tradies to work the cause of my termination, but never consulted with me in regards to the claim I took up with HR. I think the termination is due to the claim more so than the tardies, but I did have tardies. The VP of Operations (male) did the firing by himself without any one else present in the office and our HR personnel were out of town.He also did not give me an exit interview only 5 min of why they decided to fire me (multiple tardies) and then walked me out of the building. He did not tell me about my insurance, PTO time, or my 401k. It was so quick he didn’t even make sure to collect my company credit card or laptop. I don’t understand the reasons behind why it had to happen so quickly or why HR was not involved. How should one proceed? My boss informed me several weeks ago that I was up for a promotion. She was getting my information together to submit to our VP & HR. Not long after she informed me of this, our proformace evaluations were due. So she called me in & said I was doing great & was very certain my promotion would come through. She also mentioned that she wasn’t sure how much of a raise I would get but hopefully I would be satisfied. I began to ask her if she knew any specifics about the raise & she said no that would be up to our VP to determine. I then inquired about possibly sheduling a meeting with our VP to inquire about a raise (I have an amount I’m looking for like most people). My boss cut me short & strongly adviced that I do nothing of the sort. She told me, I shouldn’t even know about this promotion, & it’s “unwritten policy” that employees ‘do not ask for raises.’ If I did I would most certianly loose my promotion & our VP wouldn’t be happy that I knew of all this. IS THIS EVEN LEGAL? Strange.. HI guys, My company employs around 200 people. There is an HR department run by the HR Director who is seriously inadequate in the role. She has a shared PA with other directors and there is also a part time admin assistant. I’d like to know if there are any legal requirements regarding the size of HR department and their legal responsibilities to us as employees. Is there any kind of governing body that they would have to report to (and that we could complain to). I have no complaints about general admin, more to do with the care side that is seriously unsupportive. e.g. one of my staff has needed random time off work to care for a sick relative, and will need more time off whilst the relative undergoes treatment. I emailed HR to ask how to deal with this, after a week a reply from the director said she was going home sick and would deal with it on her return. This was several weeks ago and still hasn’t been sorted, this is typical of the director. Any advice gratefully received! |
