Has any one ever gone throught the process of getting a PhD? Is a masters of science in hr management needed before hand? What is the process of being in a PhD program like?
I have an interview line up next week that will be for 5 hours long with 5 different people. I never have an interview that long before so I’m a little nervous as to what to expect and how to prepare for it. I already have an interview with the HR recruiter already, this next one will be with the department director, manager, 2 senior, then with the HR recruiter again. What type of questions do you think each of them will be asking according to their position? Will they be the same or different? Then what type of questions should you ask each person according to their position? I’m just nervous as in how many questions can they possibly ask and how many questions can you possibly ask them and etc…
I would normally go to the HR department with this information, but in this case, I work in HR and my boss is the Director of the department. Her behavior goes against everything I believe in and it’s starting to affect my morale at work. Since I don’t participate in the festivities she treats me as though she made a mistake in hiring me. Should I confront her? Should I just quit? From what I understand, the company is fine with the occasional fun during work, but again, she’s the Director of HR and she’s doing this at least 3 days a week.
I am pregnant (19 weeks) and have not told my work yet. I am going to probably next week when my HR director gets back from vacation. But I was just wondering how long (in general) a maternity leave is? I know all companies are different. What’s the average? I heard 12 weeks then I heard 6 weeks. Also should I tell HR first and then my coordinator (close coworker that’s “above” me) and then my regular boss or how should I do it??? Sorry this was 2 questions.
I received a call from a very big company for a job offer. They (HR) were impressed and said they would talk to the director and get back to me. Its been 1 week today. How long should I wait for them to get back to me? Should I email them and ask about it? What should I write in the email so that they dont think that I’m bothering them or that its too early to ask them. Any email suggestions? Thanks.
I graduated in May of 2008 and just landed my first career job as Human Resources Administrator…people have mixed feelings so what are yours??
How long do I stay at this company before moving on? Should I switch companies and gain valuable knowledge in many different industries or is it good to stay with my current company and work my way up the career ladder?
FYI the director, vice president and manager of HR have all been with this same company for 5+years!

A Christmas tree will be lit at 1:00 p.m. Exchange of gifts among employees can be done at that time, however,no gift should be over $10.00 to make the giving of gifts easy for everyone’s pockets.
This gathering is only for employees! A special announcement will be made by our CEO at that time! Merry Christmas to you and your family.

In no way was yesterday’s memo intended to exclude our Jewish
employees. We recognize that Chanukah is an important holiday, which
often coincides with Christmas, though unfortunately not this year.
However, from now on we’re calling it our “Holiday Party.” The same
policy applies to any other employees who are not Christians or
those still celebrating Reconciliation Day. There will be no
Christmas tree present. No Christmas carols sung.We will have other
types of music for your enjoyment.

Regarding the note I received from a member of Alcoholics Anonymous
requesting a non-drinking table… you didn’t sign your name. I’m
happy to accommodate this request, but if I put a sign on a table
that reads “AA Only” you wouldn’t be anonymous anymore. How am I supposed to handle this? Somebody?
Forget about the gift exchange, no gifts are allowed since the union
members feel that $10.00 is too much money and executives believe
$10.00 is a little chintzy. NO GIFT EXCHANGE WILL BE ALLOWED.

What a diverse group we are! I had no idea that December 20th begins
the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which forbids eating and drinking
during daylight hours. There goes the party! Seriously, we can
appreciate how a luncheon at this time of year does not accommodate
our Muslim employees’ beliefs. Perhaps the Grill House can hold off
on serving your meal until the end of the party or else package
every- thing for you to take it home in a little foil doggy baggy.
Will that work?
Meanwhile, I’ve arranged for members of Weight Watchers to sit farthest from the dessert buffet and pregnant women will get the table closest to the restrooms. Gays are allowed to sit with each other. Lesbians do not have to sit with gay men, each will have their own table. Yes, there will be a flower arrangement for the gay men’s table. However, to the person asking permission to cross dress, no cross dressing allowed. We will have booster seats for short
people.
Low-fat food will be available for those on a diet. We cannot
control the salt used in the food we suggest for those people with
high blood pressure to taste first. There will be fresh fruits as
dessert for Diabetics, the restaurant cannot supply “No Sugar”
desserts. Sorry! Did I miss anything?!?!?
