When To Apply For A Position?
Is it better to apply for a job as soon as the position is posted, or wait until the last day to put in an application? Or does it really matter in these days of HR software?

Recent college graduate seeks a Healthcare Management position. Have been working as a Home Health Aide for seven years
Have Customer Service, sales, marketing, and collection experience, along with many business classes in human resources, business strategy, and accounting.
If I get my Master’s in Human Resources, is it possible to do management soon after, or does it usually take years of experience before you can do this?
What would I do in the meantime if my goal is management? Maybe career or training development?
Thanks for any advice
I have ideas, but curious what other peoples advice will be…Thanks!

Do companies do background checks after the 1st interview or the 2nd interview?
I filled out all the applications and surveys and interviewed with the controller and the hr director. Then they called me back for a second interview and this time I’ll be interviewing with the controller, hr director and the president of the company.
Do you think the background check was performed after the 1st interview or are they going to wait until after the second interview with the president?
Thank you so much!!
Good afternoon all. I had an interview yesterday for a Hiring Coordinator position at a bank. The position’s base responsibility is the recruiting and hiring of hourly employees for 15 branch locations. Positions such as tellers, loan officers, etc. But, I would also assist in other facets of HR, such as job description writing, researching employment law issues, and updating the company personnel policy.
Here’s the question. I have been invited back for a second interview in a couple of weeks. The VP of HR whom I interviewed with said this interview would be more of a “grill session” wherein she’d ask me scenario questions. What I’d do in certain situations.
I have experience working as an HR consultant for city and county govenment, but have never worked for a bank. Anyone in the industry, or familiar with the industry, have an idea on type of scenario questions I should expect and how I should respond to those questions?
Thank you for any advice.
A few of my friends in the HR line advised me against it,telling me to stick to the legal line, the reason being that it was too late for a career change, and that the legal and HR fields are world apart. But the 5 yrs experience as a lawyer was gained in my own small size firm, where I was the jack of all trade, shuffling between business (managerial) and professional responsibilities which I believe, are skills transferable and relevant to the job I’m applying for. What say you?If you are my prospective employer, will you hire me?And if you are going to interview a person for the position of Human Resources Manager, what actually do you want from your prospective employee? Will appreciate answer from those in the position of hiring people.Thank you. as_sail@yahoo.com
I currently work as a HR Consultant for a firm that works with city and county govenments. We help them recruit/hire (a little), create job ads, write job descriptions, develop personnel policies, set compensation, etc. I’ve been working there for a year and a half.
The position would be recruiting and hiring hourly employees, maintaining recruitment files, and maintaining HR forms and job descriptions. They want 1-2 years of related experience and proficiency in Office products, with banking experience a plus.
I don’t have experience in the banking industry, but I do offer an MBA, Bachelor’s Degree in HR, and have assisted one client in recruiting and screening applicants for an HR Director position. I have recruited and hired an HR Assistant and two interns for our firm and written/revised many job descriptions.
I believe I have the education and experience, but how can I make myself stand out before and after the interview? What are banks in particular looking for?
11/1/06 RIF notice received that Admin. Srvcs. Dir. position is abolished, however, Support Srvs. Dir. is available. I was promoted from Support Srvcs. Dir. to Admin. Srvc. Dir. Rather than lay off, staff were placed in vacant position without applying; whereby precedence set.
11/10/06: Assistant Director comment “As far as I am concern you still have a job, just submit a Letter of Interest. We will discuss compensation. I did, but no response.
11/20/06: Letter of Interest submitted. Asked for a 48 hours response time. Since I did not get a response, filed for grievance on 11/27/06.
12/4/06: Response from Human Resource that since I did not submit grievance on the RIF Notice in the 5 days, there is no grounds for grivance.
My supervisor said he addressed a memo. to me on 11/20/06. Memo. given to Human Resource. I have not been given the memo. After 14 working days, no response to the Letter of Interest.
Are these practices acceptable and legal?
