I need to know if I go to HR!!
I have been working at my company for close to two years. I have mastered everything that has come my way and have a pretty good reputation with the higher ups’. I have also been told I have promotion waiting for me at the end of summer after I graduate. Here is the drama…. A new girl started about 2-3 months ago and she shares my office after I leave for the day. First, she was really messy, then started to throw my notes away, go through my drawers and remove my things and put her stuff in it’s place. (this is my office and my boss allows her to be there only when I am gone) She even has gone into my personal voicemail and erased messages from my saved box that were for me only. These messages were needed the next day for me to return important calls. All gone. I went to my Director and explained what has happened so far. So I took it upon myself to be the mature person and approach the girl and let her know we are here to work together as a team, so lets just start with a clean slate. She agreed. Well, here is the issue that is so messed up!! A different co-worker came up to me today and informed me that when she walked in on this girl the other day, this girl had pulled up my old arrest record from over 12 years ago. She was looking at my picture (plus she was in her managers office doing this) and sharing it with the co-worker that told me about this. It was my arrest record, and I have never been convicted. I was arrested for something stupid but never charged. My company did a background check on me when I first began. I also brought the record to my Director and H.R. in the first week I began so I would not hide anything or have it bite me in the butt later. I can not tell you how pissed off I am. What else is this girl going to do to me? This girl also has been caught by me trying to lie on her timesheet and try to increase her pay by 3 hours. There is something very wrong about this girl. If she is so negative and hateful towards me for no reason, well, this makes me so uncomfortable.. Is this a valid reason to go back to my Director and HR??? (I don’t want to look like a narc, but this is pretty personal.) Please I need urgent advice. Please help, what would you do and who should I talk to?? I want to be as professional as I can be. Thank you all for your time!
One other thing, the arrest record is public record in the state of Florida. So is this still a violation of some kind because this happened in the work place??
HI guys,
I am having trouble at work. I am being accused of harassing somebody. The HR manager n my manger told me that one friend literraly said that I was harassing him and that he wanted to take me to court. They also required me not to approach him. He talked to me and told me it was pure bullshit and that anyway he never used these terms. However some of his friends complained about me for minor reasons. The guy will never make any statement against me but yet they threathen to fire me or to take me to court. My questions are
Can they legally ask you not to talk to somebody or approach him if he did not require it? or does it have to be an order from a court?
What can I do against wrong accusation made against me? Can I sue the company or the personns involved personally?
I talked with another manager who took the matter to the HR director.
My name is Eric am 18 years old and I currently work at a private school in broward county Florida as a lifeguard I have been working for the school for about 3 months now. on Wednesday I went to work as scheduled to and I was told to enter the office by the director of the school, when I entered the office I was told by the director that the company that had recently purchased the school had ran more extensive background check on there employers and that my name came up on the background check 4 something that would cause me to not qualify for the position anymore. I asked to know what came up and they had informed me that due to a privacy policy that the could not tell me that information so the director told me that until that issue was absolved that I could not continue working for them. So I took down the number of there human resource department and contacted them to find out what came up on my background check they told me that I was convicted as a sex offender in the state of Arizona and I would no longer be able to work for the company due to that. I was shocked at the results of the background check because not only have I not ever been convicted of a crime ive never visited the state of Arizona. So when I received that information I contacted the Arizona state department of public safety and they told me to look on the website that by law all sex offenders are to be posted on a state website. I ended finding the individual who had the same name as me with a completely different description as me and with a photo. I called the company who did the background search for the school and they informed me that it was a name only search. I am not only offended but extremely upset with the way the handled the situation before even checking to see if I was the right guy they have accused me and dismissed me from work due to there lack of information is there anything I can do about this do I have a possible law suite?
As part of a study of corporate employees, the Director of Human Resources for PNC, Inc.
wants to compare the distance traveled to work by employees at their office in downtown
Cincinnati with the distance for those in downtown Pittsburgh. A sample of 35 Cincinnati
employees showed they travel a mean of 370 miles per month, with a standard deviation of
30 miles per month. A sample of 40 Pittsburgh employees showed they travel a mean of
380 miles per month, with a standard deviation of 26 miles per month. At the .05 significance
level, is there a difference in the mean number of miles traveled per month between
Cincinnati and Pittsburgh employees? Use the five-step hypothesis-testing procedure.
