I Took A Promotion At Work Based On The 7% Raise. About 2 Weeks After I Started I Found Out They Cut My Pay?

I actually received a 5.5% pay cut. I’ve been hashing this out with HR for a year and half and all they keep telling me is that the VP would never have approved the 7% raise. Was this not an implied contract? Do I have any legal action I can take? I’m in management and a salaried employee, do the rules not apply to us?

Should I Call An Employer 2 Weeks After A Job Interview?

I had a job interview in April that went quite well, and I was called back for a 2nd interview with two of the managers. That 2nd interview wasn’t perfect, but went all right. That was 2 weeks ago, and at the time they said they’d finished interviewing all candidates and they’d probably decide within a few days. I didn’t hear anything after 1 week, so I called the HR director, and she apologized that things were moving slowly, but said no decision had been made yet. She also said the position had NOT been filled and she had NOT been asked to seek out any more candidates, which I took as a good sign. I thanked her and said I’d wait to hear back. I then sent a polite letter to the 2 managers to let them know I was still very interested in the position.
That was one week ago, and I still haven’t heard anything. Should I wait, or check in again?
P.S. They told me that only a small handful of people would make it to the 2nd interview, that’s why I figured they could decide quickly.

So, If I Quit My Job, I Get Nothing. If I Get Fired, I Get 11 Weeks Severance Pay. What Should I Do?

Here is the thing. After 11 years working my way up to middle management. The new HR director, who pretends to be a kindly old grandmother type, tells me that I’m immature (I’m 37, married, 11 year old son), totally uncoachable (I’ve never had a negative review, 0 write ups, my boss thinks I do a great job), and she wonders just what it is that I’m good at. I’m fit to be tied. I’m not a violent guy, but I swear, if some guy had said these things to me, I’d have punched him in the mouth, which would have solved my “quit or get fired dilemma”. It wouldn’t matter to me, but now I’m looking for a new job, and the ***** HR director is the gatekeeper of employee information and could very easily ruin opportunities for a new job. Welcome to middle management. When I sat down with my boss and the HR witch, she put on her Grandmother routine and claims she didn’t say anything, and now my boss thinks I’m out of line. Hopefully they’ll just can my ***, so I can move on……..thoughts???

For Status Of Last Week’s Phone Interview, What Would Be The Best Time To Call Ernst & Young Admin. Director?

It was a seeming successful and pleasant interivew to the point that the HR Director made a positive comment by saying that I did my homework and even provided me with her direct line at Ernst and Young. We even discussed compensation and the possibility of helping me in the recruitment process. One week passed still no phone call. Thanks for all of your advice.
