The Final Step ! What Are My Chances Landing The Job.?
I have been shadowing and interviewing for a recruiter position for almost a month now. The company originally was undecided if they wanted to go with me, or not. However, this morning I received a call from HR in relation to official making me an offer. After being unemployed for several months I am very excited about this opportunity. However, there is one dilemna that cleared my nostrils, and took my breath away. The HR director stated over the phone that I would need to fax over a background check release form. She went on-and-on about how thorough it is. My employment references, and job references are solid, but I can’t say the same for my educational references. My resume somewhat gives the impression that I in fact did finish school when I did not. A buddy of mine told me that as long as you did not put that on the application online they will not check it. If your resume states that you ahve a degree and you do not, you could be in trouble for falsifying your application.
However, if you said something like, “attended State U, 1985 – 1989″, it is not your fault if they assumed you had a degree when you don’t.
Whether or not a degree is required for a position is based on a company’s job descriptions and policies. For that level of job, it is not typical to require a degree.
