What Do You Think About This Response?

I applied for a job with a local company on Tuesday. I faxed them a resume and an app. I sent an email today to the hr director verifiying she received the fax and to let her know I was still interested. She responded by saying, “Yes, I got it.” That is it. Do you think that means that she is not interested in interviewing me? Or what should I think?

She might have just been really busy and didn’t have time to type more or maybe she just hadn’t had time to review it yet. I would wait a week then try calling or going to the place.

I think you should now leave it until about a week after the closing date for applications. After that, if you’ve heard nothing then give them a ring and ask to speak to someone to see if a decision has been made.
If you are unsuccessful, you can always ask for advice to find out how you could have improved your chances. This could be really helpful if you needed to apply for other jobs.
You tend to find that employers don’t give anything away until they’ve made their final decision, so don’t be too worried about it yet – I know that’s easier said than done, as waiting is the hardest part!
    Good luck with your application.
